For you movie buffs tired of Kung Fu flicks and screwball comedies, now you have other options. The Romanian Film Week opened Monday night in Beijing, adding an European touch to the year-end movie fray.
The week-long event brings film fans in the capital five Romanian movies made in recent years, including "The Rest Is Silence", "The American Fiancees", and "Four Months, Three Weeks, and Two Days", which won the coveted Palme d'Or Award at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.
The event is an effort to promote cultural exchanges between China and Romania, and offers a panoramic view of Romanian history, culture, and its hospitable people.
Filmmakers of both countries say Romanian films have been greatly recognized in the global movie market in recent years. The five entries of the event represent the highest level of both critical and commercial artistry by the Romanian film industry.
