Special Report: 2010 Shanghai Expo Countdown |

Construction and outfitting wrapped up on Friday at the Expo Center, the main venue for ceremonies, forums, and conventions at the World Exposition 2010 in Shanghai. It is the first of the four pavilions along the site's central axis to be completed.

The center will be the 2010 Expo operation and command center. Its 26-hundred-seat main hall will be used for a summit among world national leaders. The center is also designed with the environment in mind. It can recycle river water and rainwater and is made of eco-friendly materials.

All Expo pavilions are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Trial operation of the Expo site begins in April.
