Special Report: Shanghai World Expo 2010 |
In Shanghai, a new building has just been completed in World Expo Park. Inspired by art and nature, Ningbo Hall will soon be ready for the big event.
Ningno city is located in east China's Zhejiang Province. To mark the completion of the building, a ceremony brought together local officials, as well as renowned architects. The two-story structure, a marvel for its ingenious design, covers a floor space of 15- hundred square meters. It was inspired by the diffused perspective of traditional landscape painting of China. The architect also adopted some time-honored practices in erecting the building.
Wang Tao, architect, said, "While working on the design, I heard about a story. In the ruins of an ancient building, people found bricks and tiles that were made over a wide span of time... like over a thousand years. Such constant restoration is very practical and economical. So for this building, I used lots of recycled materials."
The building is located in the northern side of the World Expo Park's Best Urban Practice section. Over the months to come, it will undergo interior installation and furnishings. The designers promise to capture the essence of Ningbo City's natural scenery.
