Now, here's a true story from Macao about dreams fulfilled. The past ten-years have seen tremendous growth in Macao's cultural sector. And one couple from Shanghai has played a significant role in developing the art of dance in the Special Administrative Region. Ying Erding and Zhang Yi founded the Macao Dance School, laying a solid foundation for local talent.
These young dancers are rehearsing for the show "Flying to the Moon". Created as a tribute to the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to China, the show has won wide acclaim. Its Beijing debut at the the National Center for the Performing Arts proved a sensation, with the audience enthralled by its fusion of traditional Chinese dance skills and western choreography.
Creators of the stage marvel are Zhang Yi and Ying Erding, Director and Artistic Director of the Macao Dance School. Originally from Shanghai, the couple has been living and working in Macao for ten-years. Their career in the city corresponded with the emergence of Macao's dance art.
