Nuclear energy has always been a controversial topic. On the one hand it's a new energy resource while on the other it has the power to destroy the whole world. This has led to worries around the globe. China says it supports a nuclear non-proliferation process through peaceful ways.

The Nuclear Security Summit takes place at a time when there's an increasing risk surrounding nuclear materials. According to the IAEA, in the 15 years up to 2008, there were over a thousand cases of nuclear material being stolen. At the same time, cases of smuggling also increased. Experts say enough nuclear material exists to produce at least 100-thousand nuclear bombs.

China's stance on the use of nuclear energy has been firm that all sides should prevent nuclear proliferation through negotiations.

It says that countries should strengthen dialogue to figure out acceptable measures to tackle the new challenge.

All sides should obey international laws and regulations on the nuclear issue, and improve current mechanisms.

China stresses the importance of the role the UN and other relevant international organizations play. It says cooperation is as important as each country's own efforts.

On the one hand, every country should establish its own legislature on its exports, and at the same time, an international export mechanism should also be worked out as soon as possible.
