Death penalty given to child killer

2010-04-09 11:12 BJT

A former community doctor was given the death penalty Thursday for murdering eight children outside their primary school last month in Fujian Province. Forty-one year old Zheng Minsheng admitted to his crime in court on Thursday.

Zheng explained that he had been rejected by a woman he wanted to marry, and suffered unfair treatment from her wealthy family. He says that prompted him to carry out the attack. The families of the eight students killed have each received more than 260-thousand yuan from the government to help them recover.
