Special Report: SW China Battles Severe Drought |

Southwest China's Guizhou Province is suffering its worst drought in a century, with nearly 90 counties affected.

Local authorities say that the drought has cut drinking water supplies to five million people, and more than two million animals. Sixty percent of agricultural land has been hit. Geological experts are in the disaster-hit area to search for new water sources. They plan to dig nearly 30 wells. The local government has devoted more than 50 million yuan to try to ease the impact of the water shortage.
