Trade follows WTO regulation; Tibet has long been part of China; Taiwan not to be used as divisive issue: Li Zhaoxing

Another spotlight of the press conference is Li Zhaoxing's response to the saying of "three Ts", also known as Trade, Tibet, and Taiwan. Some western media consider these as issues creating mounting problems and misunderstanding between China and the west. But Li Zhaoxing said the three Ts are out of the country's concern, as the nation follows the rules of UN charter, and the regulations of the World Trade Organization.

Li said, "On the trade issue, China joined the WTO on December 11th 2001. Since then, the country's trade activities, both import and export, strictly follow WTO regulations.

On the Tibetan issue, early back in the 13th Century, Tibet became an inseparable part of China.  Some politicians in the west neglect this, and the region's social and economic development, and the improvement of people's life since 1959. But rather they trust the words from a man called the "Dalai Lama". That's because they are short of knowledge on Tibet's past and present.

A simple fact on the Taiwan issue is that both the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China, and Taiwan is part of China. But why is this simple issue so hard for many politicians in the west to remember? Their attempts to use the Taiwan issue to interfere in China's internal affairs, disturbs China's efforts for reunification, and hurting the Chinese people is unacceptable."

Dr. Gao, Li Zhaoxing said the 3T issues are not generating worries for the country. But they are indeed the cause of cooling of ties between China and western countries in the past year, and earlier this year.
