Special Report: 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games |
China has finished almost all its competitions in the Vancouver Winter Olympics, gaining five gold medals, two silver and four bronze. It's also broken two world records.
At a press conference on Sunday, Xiao Tan, the Vice Chief of the Chinese delegation, said the achievement is a breakthrough in the history of the nation's performances in the winter games.
He especially mentioned Wang Meng, who won three skating gold medals in the 1,000 meter short track, 500 meter race, and led her teammates to gold in the 3,000 meter relay. Her teammate Zhou Yang won the women's short track speed skating 1500 meters event.
Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo overcame the 12-year-jinx of a gold medal drought in three Olympic Winter Games when they gave a near flawless performance in the free skating to win the title on Monday.
The women's curling team won a bronze medal on Friday.
