DPRK leader meets senior CPC official

The top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has met with the head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Talks between Kim Jong-Il and Wang Jiarui took place in Pyongyang on Monday.

During the meeting, Kim asked Wang to deliver his regards to President Hu Jintao, and extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people. Wang then conveyed an oral message from President Hu Jintao to Kim Jong Il, inviting Kim to visit China once again. Wang said that China highly values its ties with the DPRK, and is willing to deepen traditional friendship, while increasing practical cooperation for the benefit of regional peace and stability.

In response, Kim Jong Il reiterated his country's stance on realizing the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. He also said the sincerity of relevant parties in resuming the stalled Six-Party Talks is very important.
