Special Report: Strong Quake Hits Haiti |
The earthquake in Haiti left many children parentless. Finding living arrangements for orphans is a major challenge. On Saturday, Chinese staff with the UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti donated two large tents, and some food and drinking water to an orphanage.
The orphanage sustained major cracks in the earthquake. As such, it's no longer safe for the kids to stay there.
40 children, aged between 4 months and 14 years old, moved into two small tents after the quake.
The two larger tents given by the Chinese peacekeepers are a welcome upgrade.
The orphanage was lucky enough not to lose a single child in the quake. But other problems quickly arose, how to feed so many children when the whole country is hungry?
