After flying for 34 hours, the second Chinese medical team touched down at Haiti to replace colleagues in the rescue mission. They got to work soon after their arrival.
Liu Wendou, head of 2nd Chinese Medical Team, said, "Our top priority now is to unload the medicines and equipment we brought here. Then we need to make contact with the Haitian government and the UN aid office in Haiti. We should quickly implement our rescue plan. "
Drawing lessons from the first Chinese medical team, the second batch is well-equipped with advanced medical equipment, and experienced experts who are in urgent need in the quake-stricken region.
Ji Chunlei, head of 2nd Chinese Medical Team, said, "We have picked the most experienced experts from the Chinese army who specialize in disinfection. We have also brought medical facilities like drug machines, and other machines that can be used to kill virus, and infectious diseases. "
Also just arrived in Haiti are four newly-dispatched Chinese peace-keepers. They are replacing their colleagues who died in the massive earthquake. The four officers will be in charge of coordinating, press releases, and medical aid.
