President Hu commends Macao's progress

President Hu Jintao has commended the progress made by the Macao Special Administrative Region over the past decade. The region will soon commemorate the 10th anniversary of its return to the mainland.

President Hu said on Friday that Macao has "embraced a bright future," which it will achieve with the support of the central government and the hard work of its people. President Hu made the remarks while attending an exhibition in Beijing showcasing Macao's achievements over the past 10 years.

He said the SAR has fully implemented the policies of "one country, two systems," and "Macao people governing Macao." He encouraged the people of Macao and the SAR government to continue striving for a better future.

December 20th will mark the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to the mainland from Portugal. All Standing Committee members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee also attended the exhibition. The exhibition will be open to the public from December 12th through January 13th.
