China managing medical service reform

China will continue to improve its medical services and drug management until 2011. Medical staff service charges for things such as clinical treatment, nursing, and surgical procedures will be increased. There will be lower charges for the medical equipment used in check-ups and treatment.

The hospitals' deduction percentage will be removed from drugs. During the transition, the markup on the price of medicine will be lower than 15 percent. For high priced drugs, the related department will set a price limitation. The Health Ministry will make price recommendations for medical services according to the different levels of hospitals and doctors.
