Chinese president holds talk with Malaysian supreme head on deepening ties

President Hu Jintao, is in Malaysia for a state visit, to enhance strategic cooperation between the two countries. President Hu's visit marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the 2 nations. Yao Hong with this report.

This is the first official visit to Malaysia by a Chinese head of state in the past 15 years.

President Hu Jintao was greeted by Malaysian Supreme Head of State, Mizan Abidin, and the two leaders also held talks on further cooperation and deepening ties on Monday evening.

They agreed to make joint efforts to further contribute to regional peace and stability.

President Hu says since the establishment of diplomatic ties 35 years ago, the two countries have a deepened mutual political trust and enhanced economic cooperation, and expanded exchange in fields of education, culture and tourism. He says both countries coordinated and cooperated in regional and international affairs, and jointly maintained the interest of developing countries. President Hu says China is willing to further promote ties with Malaysia.
