Visiting Chinese Vice President, Xi Jinping, has met with top German leadership on his trip to the country. Both sides called for more concerted efforts to push Sino-German ties to the next level.

The vice president says China has long attached vital importance to its relations with Germany, and has taken a strategic and long-term approach towards bilateral ties.

He added that China is willing to join hands with Germany to increase political trust, deepen economic cooperation, enhance cultural exchanges and strengthen coordination on international and regional affairs.

German President, Horst Koehler, noted that China is playing an increasingly important role in the international arena.

He said both Germany and China should enhance dialogue and cooperation, and oppose trade and investment protectionism.
