President Hu leaves U.S. after G20 Summit

President Hu Jintao has left Pittsburgh, in the United States, following a two-day financial summit. Leaders from the Group of 20 countries laid the groundwork for sustainable global economic growth and coordinated economic policy positions.

At the summit, the Group of 20 countries representing 85 percent of the world economy reached a joint statement. It says the G20 countries will continue to implement stimulus programs to support economic recovery.

The Leaders' Statement confirms the G20's status as the top coordinating mechanism of the world's economic issues. A senior Chinese official highlighted the significance of economic cooperation.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei said, "We believe that G20 members and other members of the international community should keep their macro-economic policies more aligned and continue to promote the recovery of the world."

The G20 members have also agreed to increase developing countries' voting power at the International Monetary Fund by at least five percent. And they also promised to contribute over 500 billion dollars to a renewed and expanded IMF New Arrangements to Borrow.

The summit concluded Friday and G20 leaders are expected to meet again next year in Canada and South Korea.
