Typhoon relief is not the only major task facing Taiwan. A/H1N1 flu, has spread across the island. There have been another two more deaths with four rescuers infected.

Reeling from the pain caused by the typhoon, the island now has to face up to a new challenge. Poor health conditions and the number of people in the typhoon-hit regions have laid the ground for infectious diseases. A/H1N1 flu is a major threat. 13 relief workers in Pingtung were the first to show flu-like symptoms. Four of them were confirmed A/H1N1 positive on Monday night.

A rescuer said, "We have to wear masks during our rescue efforts and keep them away from our dirty hands when it's wet."

Local authorities have ordered rescue teams to disinfect typhoon-affected areas. All victims, soldiers and volunteers are being advised to wear face masks.

Taiwan health authority has confirmed two more deaths from the influenza, bringing the island's total to five. The latest victims are a 44-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy, who had not been abroad recently.

Local authorities have released emergency measures against A/H1N1 flu. The focus of disease prevention is on the community.

Liu Zhaoxuan, Taiwan official, said, "We will expand the use of anti-flu drugs. This will be paid for by the government, not medical insurance."

The authorities have relaxed procedures for giving Tamiflu to patients. But as the new school term and the flu season approach, the island wants to be fully prepared.
