A Chinese medical and epidemic prevention team is on its way from Beijing to Haiti to help earthquake victims.

A 40-member Chinese medical care and epidemic prevention team left here for
Haiti on Sunday afternoon on a chartered flight, which also carried 20

The group, sent by the Chinese government, is made up of 40 people. Most of them have taken part in rescue and relief operations for UN peacekeeping missions and the Wenchuan earthquake in May, 2008.

Also onboard the plane are four Chinese peacekeeping police officers. They're replacing the four who were killed in the quake. The Chinese rescue team currently in Haiti will return home on the chartered flight.
