The Chinese People's Liberation Army garrison troops in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region have conducted their annual rotation.
The move is in accordance with both the Hong Kong SAR basic law and the Hong Kong SAR Garrison Law of the PRC. Early this morning (Wednesday), military vehicles of the ground troops rolled across the Lok Ma Chau checkpoint into Hong Kong to begin their defense duties. The outgoing ground troops then left for their base in the Chinese mainland.
The rotation for the Navy and Air Force took place several hours later. The entire process ended by 2 PM.
