The Chinese Embassy and Xinhua News Agency's office in Baghdad Iraq, were severely damaged by Sunday's explosions that killed at least 155 people.

One blast struck the building of the Baghdad Provincial Council, close to the Mansour Hotel which houses the Chinese Embassy and the Xinhua office. More than half of the Embassy's ceiling collapsed, but no staff members were injured.

Work has begun to clear the debris and repair the offices. Two Chinese chefs employed at the hotel were injured by broken glass. The Chinese Embassy assisted them in obtaining medical treatment.
