World leaders and celebrities have gathered in New York to begin a week of climate talks. Climate Week NYC aims to build consensus for a new climate deal in Copenhagen, Denmark in December.

The Copenhagen agreement replaces the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged world leaders at a meeting on Monday to step up negotiations on a new climate deal.

Hollywood stars are also turning climate crusaders, pressuring wealthy nations to cut emissions and help developing countries with new environmentally friendly technologies.

Hugh Jackman, Actor & Climate Campaigner, said, "You cannot forget the moral aspect of this equation. There's a lot of pragmatic politics that's going to go into this week and a very, very hard negotiation, and let's face it, economics. But morally, the developed countries have largely caused the problem and the people hit hardest by it are those in developing countries."
