70 days after dying from a drug overdose, Michael Jackson was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in California on Thursday night.

The funeral began about an hour and a half late because of the tardiness of Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine, and other family members. Among the group was the singer's three children, Paris, Prince Michael, and Prince Michael II, known as Blanket.

Celebrities including Macaulay Culkin, Al Sharpton, Quincy Jones and 77 year-old Elizabeth Taylor, were left waiting in the sweltering summer heat. The temperature was 90 degrees Fahrenheit or about 32 degrees Celsius just before sunset.

Police escorted the family's motorcade of 31 cars, including Rolls-Royces and Cadillacs, from Encino to Forest Lawn, with the hearse bearing Jackson's body at the end.

After the burial, the closest the public will be able to get to Jackson's vault is a portion of the mausoleum, but most of the building is restricted. However, it can't stop Michael's fans from coming to mourn him.

A fun for Michael Jackson said, "He's been a part of my life, my whole entire life and I just wanted to lay that part of my life, and his life, to rest."

Florist said, "We put the marquee because our family in Vegas, we saw them way back when they were the Jackson Five. My uncle ran a couple of hotels in Nevada and we put on our keyboard, 'God Bless Michael Jackson, always in our hearts the King of Pop.' "

The King of Pop died a drug-induced death June 25 at the age of 50. Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician, told detectives he gave the singer a series of sedatives and the powerful anaesthetic propofol to help him sleep. Prosecutors are still investigating his untimely death and no charges have been filed.
