The Shanghai World Expo has launched a card allowing people to pay for purchases at businesses inside the park. The card will be further expanded for use in the whole country after expo is over.

This expo commercial card come in six cash limits, raging from one-hundred to five-thousand yuan. Ninety-percent of commercial outlets inside Shanghai's Expo site currently accept the card.

Wei Ran, Director for Expo Project, Shanghai Commercial Investment Co., Ltd., said, "The card can be used in nearly all the corners of the park, for things such as buying tickets, designated hotel booking, all living expenses."

Sales of the commercial card are expected to reach five-hundred million yuan prior to the opening of the expo, and exceed two billion yuan in the first month of the expo. In addition to the expo park, businesses in Xujiahui, Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road, and the Pudong and Hongqiao airports also accept the card. Total consumption in six months could exceed 3.5 billion yuan.

Wei said, "Before May the first, there will be already 3000 businesses in Shanghai accepting the card. "

After the world expo, the card will be further expanded to second and third tier cities, to cover more than 20-thousand businesses. The card can be bought at over 70-thousand postal outlets around the country.
