Phase 3 ECFA talks coming soon

A spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office says the mainland and Taiwan will work to accelerate the signing of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement or ECFA.

Fan Liqing told a news briefing on Wednesday that the two sides will set a date for the third round of negotiations on the ECFA as soon as possible.

The next round will be held on the mainland. Financial services will be on the table this time.

Fan Liqing also says the mainland welcomes all forms of discussions to help Taiwan residents get to know the benefits the ECFA. She says she is confident the deal will be supported by Taiwan residents because it could help the island create jobs.
