Vice Commerce Minister Jiang Zengwei is on a six day visit to Taiwan in his role as honorary chairman of the Association of Economic and Trade Exchange Across the Taiwan Straits. He will attend the Retail Business Forum Across the Straits and pay a visit to enterprises in Taiwan. He says preparation work for the second round of negotiations on the Economic Co-Operation Framework Agreement,or ECFA have made substantial progress.
Jiang Zengwei arrived in Taiwan on Thursday along with representatives from the mainland's well-known department stores and supermarkets who are among the delegation. Jiang says the group aims to promote exchange and cooperation on retail business.
Jiang Zengwei, Vice Minister of Commerce, said, "I think we should learn from Taiwan's experience in the operation of high-end department stores and retail businesses and combine it with our management skills. "
Zeng will also visit enterprises in Taiwan and he has some purchase contracts for them.
"On the basis of the 14.7-billion-yuan purchase contracts last year, we will probably increase the volume this year to support sustainable and healthy economic development in Taiwan. " Jiang said.
On the second round of negotiations on the Economic Co-operation Framework Agreement, Zeng says the two sides attach great importance to it and all work has made great progress so far.
