Special Report: Yuan Not to Blame for Trade Surplus |

Senior Chinese and U.S. officials say healthy Sino-US economic and trade ties form the basis for development of the bilateral relationship.

Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Zhong Shan held talks with his American counterparts in the past two days. He said sound and stable trade relations were of fundamental interest to both sides. As to the yuan currency issue, Zhong pointed out that the China-U.S. trade imbalance is caused by differences in the international division of labor. Zhong said, China will take steps to import more products from the U.S. But he said that the U.S. should also take firm action, to alter export control measures against China.
