Beijing expands public rental housing

Beijing is expanding the construction of public rental housing. This year the city is expected to construct or purchase ten thousand units of public rental housing.

To support the development of public rental housing, over 4.5 billion yuan in loans from the public housing fund is being used to fund projects. The municipal government is also exploring new ways of financing public rental housing projects, including social funds, private enterprise, and rural collective funds.

Public rental housing is mainly built during the transformation of suburban areas, in order to provide low-rent housing to the migrant population and recent college graduates.
