China drew 14 billion US dollars in foreign direct investment in the first two months of the year, up 4.9 percent from the same period of 2009.

The Ministry of Commerce said February alone attracted about 5.9 billion US dollars in FDI, roughly the same as that in 2009. While FDI in January stood at 8.1 billion US dollars, up 7.8 percent year on year.

China attracted a recorded 92 billion US dollars in non-financial foreign direct investment in 2008, an increase of 23 percent from 2007. Inflows, which surged in the years after the country joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, are in the midst of recovering after suffering the impact of a global economic slowdown.
