China's National Tourism Administration has announced that starting April 12th Chinese tourists will be able to travel to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea through group tours.

This is the first time that the DPRK has allowed foreign travelers to enter the country since it shut down its foreigner tourist visa on December 10th, 2009. Figures show, that the DPRK receives 10,000 to 30,000 Chinese tourists every year. The number of European travelers is no more than 1,000. The country also has less than 500 Japanese travelers every year.

Also starting April 12th, Chinese tourists can also travel to the Federated states of Micronesia, an island nation located in the northern Pacific Ocean, through organized group tours. Chinese tourists only need to bring their passports, return air tickets, and hotel booking documents to apply for Visa on Arrival.
