It's a coincidence this year that the Lunar New Year falls on the same day as the Tibetan New Year.
And despite wintry weather and the usual problems with low oxygen levels at high altitudes, many tourists are taking this chance to view the wonders of Tibet during this festival season.
Mr. Gu is from Shanghai, he came to Potala Palace to take pictures on the first day of both the Lunar and Tibetan New Years.
Guo Yaoji, Shanghai Tourist, said, "I think the first day marks a new beginning, so I decided to come to Lhasa to challenge myself, and to welcome the new year. I hope I can overcome current difficulties to reach new heights."
While for many other tourists, they're going to Tibet to experience the Tibetan New Year.
