Structural work done at 18 Chinese pavilions

As many as 18 provinces, regions and municipalities of China have completed construction of the structures for their pavilions. All pavilions are scheduled to be finished by the end of March.

The 18 provinces, regions and municipalities which have completed structural construction include Beijing, Heilongjiang, Hubei, and Guangdong.

All these pavilions are located adjacent to China's national pavilion. Participants are gearing up for the upcoming Shanghai World Expo, which runs from May 1st to the end of October.

Xu Yuwei, Director of Coordination Office of Beijing Pavilion, said, "The Beijing Pavilion is a steel structure with an LED screen display. On the screen, we are going to showcase four images. They are a traditional construction of the Temple of Heaven, as well as the Water Cube, the Bird's Nest and the National Center for the Performing Arts."

Wang Mingju, Deputy Director of Hubei Pavilion Management Office, said, "Our province will create a flowing exhibition. The shape of our pavilion features a seal of a Chinese character-- water, because Hubei is known for its rich water resources."

Bai Mingshao, Director of Guangdong Pavilion Management Office, said, "The appearance of our pavilion features a traditional construction style from south China. This shows our respect to history and heritage."

In December 2009, 26 provinces, regions and municipalities started construction and decorations of their pavilions.

All are expected to be complete at the end of March. They will be ready to receive visitors starting from April during trial operation of the Expo sites.
