China changing agriculture growth mode

The central government's Number 1 document has noted that changing the growth mode is the fundamental way for China's agriculture to move forward from one that is traditional to a fully modernized mode.

The current growth of agriculture consumes a large amount of input, but results in significant waste. In 2008, 52 million tons of fertilizer and 1.7 million tons of pesticide were used, but without practicing scientific structure or methods. Experts say modern agriculture depends on incorporating new technology, injecting enough capital, and using resources efficiently.
