RMB appreciation not tied to trade

Chinese Minister of Commerce Chen Deming said that RMB appreciation will not be linked to trade status.

He added that the currency's stability will favor sustainable economic growth for the country. Chen concluded that, although figures for the first 20 days of the new year show a rebound for China's trade sector, it could take 2 to 3 years to reach the level enjoyed prior to 2008.
