New trends at Guangzhou Auto Show

2009-11-24 18:40 BJT

The Guangzhou Auto Show, opened to the public today, has customarily played a different role than the two bigger exhibitions in Beijing and Shanghai.

As a local event, the Guangzhou Auto Show aims to promote vehicle sales in Southern China. The country's top two shows, on the other hand, reveal the industry's latest trends, and preview automakers updated strategies.

But a few fresh trends are emerging in Guangzhou this year. China's southern market has mostly been dominated by Japanese imports. But other manufacturers from Europe, the US, and South Korea, along with

Chinese carmakers, are starting to pay more attention to the area's potential.

Insiders say this reflects the nation's new marketplace dynamics. Global competitors have come to realize that Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou do not represent the entire Chinese market.

As consumption increases in smaller cities, and even in rural areas, companies anticipate making more breakthroughs than ever.
