2009-10-14 08:50 BJT

Despite the difficulties engendered by the global financial crisis, trade between China and Russia continues to gain momentum.

China's Minister of Commerce, Chen Deming, was speaking on the occasion of the China-Russia economic summit. He said past years have witnessed the rapid growth of China's investment in Russia.

Joint projects in energy, aviation, space exploration and high-tech have all been developing successfully. Financial cooperation is also steadily improving. With closer bilateral ties, private firms from both countries have expressed a greater willingness to work together.

In recent years, China has become Russia's largest importer, and its third-largest trading partner. China is also Russia's second-largest energy consumer.
