Beijing's CBD expansion plan will be officially released next week. With the country focusing on building an environmental-friendly economy, the capital aims to build its CBD in Chaoyang District into an exceptional low-carbon business center.

In May, Beijing said it will expand the well-known central business district, a three square kilometer plot of land on the city's East Side. Seven alternative design plans will meet the press at next week's CBD International Business Festival. Construction will start before the end of the year. After 10 years of development, the city hopes the expansion can help the CBD improve its industrial structure.

Wu Guiying, Official of Chaoyang District, Beijing said "Our focus is still on developing the international financial and modern service industries. We will attract more companies to set up headquarters here. The new point is that we will encourage the media industry to join the CBD."
