China - The largest destination among developing countries for FDI

Besides development in imports and exports, China has also shown an outstanding ability to draw foreign direct investment, or FDI. China has been the largest destination among developing countries for global foreign direct investment for 17 straight years.

As of the end of June, China had approved more than 670-thousand overseas-invested enterprises with total FDI topping 898 billion US dollars. Due to the financial crisis, China's FDI started to drop in the last quarter of 2008. The decline has eased off since May, and the figure registered an increase in August, the first rise in 11 months.
