Beijing residents will soon find public transportation more convenient. The last carriages for the new number four line have just arrived, and service will start before the National Day Holiday.

The 40 trains on Line 4 are all from Qingdao. Each train has 6 carriages, and each carriage can carry a maximum of 300 passengers. The last 2 carriages were delivered Saturday.

Yang Feng, Engineer of Beijing MRT Construction Admin., said, "We will have a serious preparation and tests for all the trains. Connections between all sorts of systems, like broadcasting signals and passenger information base, will also be examined."

The new subway line is 29 kilometers long, with 24 stations. Trains will run every three minutes. Beijing has been testing operations since June.

The line has undergone over 100 types of trial programs, including anti-terrorism and accident drills.

The subway operator says preparations are almost done. Passenger service will begin by the end of this month.
