The 2050 China Energy and Carbon Dioxide Emissions Report was released in Beijing on Thursday. The report is based on figures derived in 2005.
According to the report, by 2050 the amount of carbon dioxide emission in China will be between 12.2 and 8.7 billion tons. The annual energy demand will be 27 billion tons, if the growth rate for the last 30 years in China continues.
The report says the country can neither produce such amounts of coal, nor bear the pressure from such high emissions. The report suggests that priorities on carbon emission reduction should turn to industry, construction and transportation.
