Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |

Thailand's health authority is ordering a close watch on a possible surge of A/H1N1 cases and the bird flu in 11 provinces as winter approaches. Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai met local medical agencies and disease control officials to discuss preventive measures against the viruses.

Eleven provinces in central and lower-northern Thailand are on the list of high-risk areas for the diseases. There have been other indications of a possible resurgence of A/H1N1 especially during the winter.

In addition, preventive measures against bird flu will be implemented, because some birds have been dying without an identified cause in five provinces.
