Minority groups fully represented at two sessions

Delegates from ethnic minority groups wearing traditional costumes present during the opening ceremony for the National People鈥檚 Congress (NPC), on March 5, 2010 and on the opening ceremony of the Chinese People鈥檚 Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on March 3, 2010 in Beijing. All of China鈥檚 55 minority groups are represented at the meeting, from Mongolians and Koreans to the Muslim Uighurs and shamanistic Oroqen, and almost all come dressed in traditional clothing. China鈥檚 parliament, the National People鈥檚 Congress, opened its annual session on Friday, with China鈥檚 Premier Wen Jiabao giving his work report and spelling out broad policy goals for 2010.
