Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday held talks, witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents and jointly met with the press on the sidelines of the fourth Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia.
The two heads of state agreed that the Sino-Russian relationship has entered a new period of higher-level and faster development. They also agreed that regardless of changes in the international situation, the two countries will continue to develop bilateral relations and safeguard global peace and stability. International public opinions hold that under the guidance of both leaders, China-Russia relations are progressing to higher levels.
This is the third time for Xi to meet President Putin after they had already met in Beijing and Johannesburg this year. The frequent exchanges show the high level and uniqueness of bilateral ties, injecting new impetus in enhancing China-Russia relations.
Both leaders have reached broad consensus that China and Russia should strengthen the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative and Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), expand pragmatic cooperation in a series of fields and promote local-level cooperation.
Through Xi’s participation in the forum, China-Russia relations are bound to grow from strength to strength and the cooperation between the two in the Far East will gain new progress, which is expected to yield more fruitful outcomes in bilateral ties.
China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination serves as an important cornerstone of world peace and stability.
The latest meeting between Xi and Putin will facilitate the two countries to maintain close communications and coordination within multilateral frameworks such as the UN, SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), push forward political settlements on hotspot issues, jointly safeguard international equity and justice, as well as world peace and stability and forge ahead with building of a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind.
It is expected that President Xi’s trip will push forward China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination to higher level and push bilateral relations to new heights.
