Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 4th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia on September 11-12, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Xi is scheduled to attend several bilateral and multilateral events, among which will be the two presidents' third meeting this year, deliver a speech at the annual meeting and hold friendly communications with other state leaders.

It will be the very first time for the Chinese head of state to attend the Eastern Economic Forum, marking the most important high-level exchanges between China and Russia in the second half of the year.

Xi's tour is expected to add new momentum to peace, stability and cooperation in Northeast Asia. Proposed by President Putin, the Eastern Economic Forum was founded in 2015 and is becoming a popular platform where direct dialogues are held to discuss international and regional issues and deepen economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Xi's upcoming presence at the forum signifies the continuation of the two countries' tradition of supporting each other in holding important international activities, the importance attached by the Chinese side to participate in cooperation in the Far East and its determination to further development and prosperity in cooperation with other countries in the region.

Against the backdrop of anti-globalization trend and mounting protectionism and unilateralism, Xi's attendance sends a signal to the world that only by upholding the principle of mutual benefits and win-win results and building a community with a shared future for humanity can promote regional economic development.

With the strategic guidance of Xi and Putin, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination has ushered in a new era featuring high level and remarkable development. Their forthcoming third meeting this year embodies the tacit understanding between the two heads of state.

President Xi's participation is expected to guide bilateral relations to maintain a high-level development, promote bilateral all-round cooperation and upgrade bilateral cooperation in the Far East to yield new outcomes. Xi is also expected to inject new strong impetus into the development of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination and open up a new course for peace, stability and cooperation in the region.
