Smooth development in the new era requires various and indispensable forces to move forward in alignment. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee met on March 4 with political advisors from the China Democratic League and China Zhi Gong Party, those without party affiliation and others from the sector of returned overseas Chinese at the first Session of 13th CPPCC National Committee, China's top political advisory body. Xi said the system of multiparty cooperation and political consultation led by the CPC is a new type of party system originating from China's soil.

By entering a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Xi stressed the importance of giving full play to the unique advantages of multiparty cooperation to develop a socialist democracy and work together for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

Reputation relies on reality instead of inherent rights. The 70-year history of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference has showed how the core of the people's democracy with Chinese characteristics lies in collective discussions. Peoples' affairs are resolved by the people through consultation.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the tremendous achievements China made in its construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics have crystallized the valuable contributions by the system of multiparty cooperation and political consultation led by the Communist Party of China. As Xi instructed, we should  adhere to the initial mission of multiparty cooperation, uphold and perfect the socialist political party system in the new era. China is expected to stun the world with new achievements of its political civilization and new prospects of the multiparty cooperation.
