Editor's foreword: "Looking China" International Youth Film Project is co-organized by the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture (AICCC), Beijing Normal University and Huilin Foundation. The program focuses on the young participants’ personal experiences of Chinese culture and encourages them to discover and tell Chinese stories from their own perspectives.

As of the year 2017, students from all over the world were invited to participate in the project. They were stationed in 12 municipality, provinces and autonomous regions here in China. Every filmmaker has worked out a 10-minute short film about Chinese culture around the topic of "Craftsmanship·Inheritance·Innovation.”

Do you want to go back to the old time? There is a photo studio in Beijing, China where you can dress up in old style clothes and take photos. Wang Xu and Yang Wei started the photo studio called White Nights to make people's vintage dreams come true.

Both of them enjoy collecting relics of old photography and studios. Yang Wei believes the old craft is doomed to disappear, while the vintage style photography is a niche demand. But Wang Xu thinks that new technology can give traditional crafts new life. Thanks to improved technology, the traditional process is simpler and cheaper.

Vintage style is getting more popular among young Chinese people. We may bump into girls wearing old Chinese style clothes in parks or old towns. Many TV hits are costume dramas. There is a sort of mystery in the old time, we wonder what things could have been. By taking photos in old style, we connect the past with today.

Some old style music is played at background from beginning to the end of the movie, which fit the story and scenes. Going to a vintage photo studio should be a fun and unforgettable experience that deserves a try.
