Editor's foreword: "Looking China" International Youth Film Project is co-organized by the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture (AICCC), Beijing Normal University and Huilin Foundation. The program focuses on the young participants’ personal experiences of Chinese culture and encourages them to discover and tell Chinese stories from their own perspectives.

As of the year 2017, students from all over the world were invited to participate in the project. They were stationed in 12 municipality, provinces and autonomous regions here in China. Every filmmaker has worked out a 10-minute short film about Chinese culture around the topic of "Craftsmanship·Inheritance·Innovation.”

The movie "One Sound, One Man", directed by Gaia Saarinen and produced by Xiao Bowen, depicts a passionate and hard-working 51-year-old sound engineer in China’s oldest film studio, Changchun Film Studio.

Bai Jingli has been mixing sound for film for the past 16 years and he loves his job. He believes this is a great period for the Chinese film industry, since many people are investing in films. There is strong potential for the industry. He thinks songs in films can influence the younger generation, similar to how his generation were inspired by older films. He is dedicated to develop the sound design and pass on the tradition to the next generation of sound engineers.

The Changchun Film Studio is located in Jilin Province, northeast China, which has been considered one of the cornerstones in Chinese film history. Today it's one of the largest film production bases in the country.

The movie has a very loose structure with too many scenery shots. But despite this, if you want to take a glance at a Chinese film studio, it's still an informative flick to watch.
