"Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" was established as part of the guiding ideology that the CPC must uphold in the long term, as the 19th CPC National Congress deliberated on and unanimously approved the revised Party Constitution in which Xi’s thought is included, October 24.

Xi's thought makes eight fundamental issues clear, including the overarching objectives for upholding and developing Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the new era, as well as the direction, model and driving force of development, and the strategic steps, external conditions and political guarantees.

It also underpins 14 fundamental principles, ranging from ensuring Party leadership over all work to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

According to the resolution on the amendment, Xi Jinping Thought "systematically addressed the major questions of our times-what kind of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era requires us to uphold and develop and how we should uphold and develop it."

Xi Jinping Thought illuminates the road for the Party to make progress, while it is a guide of action for the Party and Chinese people of all ethnic groups to strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

At the present stage, the political task of top priority for all Party members and Chinese people is to comprehend the essence of spirit and the rich meanings of Xi Jinping Thought, then put it into practice to achieve the great success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a new era in a concerted effort.
