Editor's foreword: "Looking China" International Youth Film Project is co-organized by the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture (AICCC), Beijing Normal University and Huilin Foundation. The program focuses on the young participants’ personal experiences of Chinese culture and encourages them to discover and tell Chinese stories from their own perspectives.

As of the year 2017, students from all over the world were invited to participate in the project. They were stationed in 12 municipality, provinces and autonomous regions here in China. Every filmmaker has worked out a 10-minute short film about Chinese culture around the topic of "Craftsmanship·Inheritance·Innovation.”

In the film, 'Steaming Road,' starring and directed by Hungarian native, Adel Legyel, takes viewers on the trail to one of Shanghai’s ancient town, Nangxiang, to grab a bite of delicious dumplings.

She visits Nanxiang Restaurant, which has been designated as a National Cultural Heritage of China. Patrons eat delicious pork dumplings, which is a popular food for the Chinese at home and abroad.

In her fascination, Adel Legyel, seeks to learn how to cook dumplings and joins her producer, Peter Liu, to his family’s home where his mother teaches her. Viewers capture a brief glimpse of true family life in Shanghai and discover they take pride in their homes.

Adel Lengyel adds an Hungarian touch by preparing dumplings with popular ingredients used in her native country. She brings the best of Hungary and China into one film.
