Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired the 9th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit in southeastern China's Xiamen City on September 4, 2017 and delivered the keynote address at the summit: "Stronger Cooperation for a Brighter Future" that sets a future course for the next decade of BRICS cooperation.
Xi's speech stood of paramount importance, drawing worldwide attention and winning high praise among the international community. He has advanced, "Proposals of China” covering pursuing results-oriented economic cooperation, strengthening complementarity development strategies, building closer ties in global governance and promoting people-to-people exchanges—showing "Chinese wisdom" to inject huge driving forces for the growth of the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
Xi also announced an implementation plan embodying the proposals, encompassing the Economic and Technical Cooperation Plan for BRICS countries with 500 million yuan (about 76 million U.S. dollars) and 4 million U.S. dollars contributed to NDB (New Development Bank) Project Preparation.
Xi has demonstrated Beijing's commitment to the development of the world, pushing BRICS cooperation toward a new type of pattern in which the economy, politics and culture run neck and neck.
The Xiamen summit would lead BRICS cooperation to set sail from the city and usher in the 2nd "Golden Decade", delivering tangible benefits to people of the five countries and around the world.
